The Tanks at Bushwick Inlet Park was a vision for an adaptive reuse park along the Williamsburg waterfront in Brooklyn, New York. The proposal harnessed the creative ethos of the historic, industrial waterfront, breathing new life into an underutilized greenspace and ten iconic, decommissioned oil tanks on the site. The tanks have since been demolished, but this proposal offers lessons and opportunities to reimagine dynamic, interactive, and educational public spaces that address affordability, safety, and ecology.

PLANE–SITE worked with The Tanks Organization and local activists to produce The Tanks documentary. This short film served as an outreach tool and now a stirring reminder of the importance of preservation and the ephemerality of our built environment.
