Documenting the life and work of a pioneer of relational architecture
PLANE—SITE devised and produced a short film, Public Interruptions, examining the significant contribution by renowned Mexican-Canadian artist, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. Globally recognized for his pioneering work in ‘relational architecture’, public space and the critical engagement of citizens, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s artworks make technological and person-centered interventions into the built environment. Occupying the space between performance and architecture, his installations tend to amplify the role of the citizen and disrupt hegemonic narratives. PLANE—SITE surveyed several of the artist’s larger-scale interventions into public space, including works such as Vectorial Elevation and Voz Alta.
